After purchasing the program, you will receive an email to the address you provided during purchase. In that email will be a link to
where you may download the full version of the program. The program is downloaded in the same way as you downloaded the DEMO
program. The full version replaces the demo version. You will not receive anything in the U.S. mail. It is all done online. Please
download the full program as soon as possible after you receive the email as the link will expire shortly after purchase.
Look at the screen for an offense, such as, Penal Code section 288. You will see statutes related to PC 288. Tap on the statute
number and the text of the statute will appear. For example, you will see 667.15 / .6 / .71 on the 288 screen. By tapping on either
667.15 or .6 or .71, the statutory text for each of these enhancements will appear. The goal of Crime-IQ is to include every statutory
reference for an offense all on the same screen, so where there are many references, statutes are grouped together. In some cases,
only that part of the statute which is relevant to the subject offense, will appear. The PC Desktop program includes the text to the target
offense statute itself which is the bold statute number. Due to memory limitations in mobile devices, only the statutes for all of the
collateral consequences are provided.
Crime-IQ can be searched three ways. One is to type in the offense code section on the Start Menu screen under "Enter Offense
Code" i.e., 211. The other way is to go to the offense list, and on a Palm PDA tap on "List of Offenses" at the top of the screen, and
jump down to the section where the offense is located. On a Windows PDA, tap on GoTo and choose the section. The third way is to
simply scroll down the list of offenses.
On the main screen of the Health & Safety Code or Penal Code, in the bottom right hand corner is a button with a clock icon, tap that.
Choose the code for the statutory deadline you are looking for.
A PDA does not have the memory capabilities of a laptop, so programs cannot be so large that their use is compromised. This is also
why the program is divided into two modules (H&S and PC) for faster use and access. However, statutory text relating to
enhancements, probation ineligiblity/restriction statutes, any statutes associated with an offense (such as the 10-yr gun ban, fines,
special sex offense statute of limitations or registrations, 288.1 reports, etc.) are included. The purpose of the program is to provide
information about all the sentencing consequences of an offense. NOTE: The PC Desktop version includes the statutes to each of
the target offenses as well as the collateral statutes.
Crime-IQ is a PDA program and was not made for PC's. However, there are third party applications which allow you to operate any
program that is on your Palm on your desktop PC. (See PDA Reach.) Also there is a separate Crime-IQ program for the Desktop.
Crime-IQ will be updated every year to reflect any newly enacted laws.
Try re-setting your touch screen by choosing "Preferences" from the Home screen, then choose the "Touch Screen" option and follow
the directions to tap on the target with your stylus. Once you are done, go back to Crime-IQ and your buttons should work better.
Palm PDAs:
If you have downloaded the DEMO versions and decided not to purchase the program, or want to remove the full versions from your
PDA, go to the Uninstall page to download and hotsync the "uninstallers" for each program. These will remove the Crime-IQ files from
your PDA.
Windows PDAs:
The most common error on Windows devices is not closing out Running Programs to free up memory. Check to see if you have at
least 15 MB of program (not storage) memory available. The programs will not open unless there is enough memory. Stop "running
programs" to make more memory available by tapping: Settings - System - Memory - Running Programs. After closing out running
programs, try to open the program again. Make sure when you exit either of the Crime-IQ programs, that you choose "Exit" on the
main screen to fully close the program and make memory available.
Enable "Clear Type" after programs have been installed: Settings - System - Screen - Clear Type
The 2007 Version forward of Crime-IQ incorporates Probation Ineligibility/Restriction statutes into the actual code section screens.
Windows PC Desktop:

appear on the desktop. Use the shortcut to open the program. Repeat as to Penal Code.exe.

Files 2) Finding the folder "CrimeIQ" 3) Right clicking on the file HS Code.exe and choosing "Create Shortcut". Move the shortcut file

The H&S software includes the "Offenses & Penalties" set forth in Chapter 6 of the Health & Safety Code relating to controlled
substances. The software includes the most common misdemeanor Vehicle Code offenses along with commonly charged Business
& Professions Code sections and commonly charged Health & Safety Code sections outside of Chapter 6. The Penal Code section
includes the most commonly charged misdemeanor and felony offenses. It does not include all offenses. For example, Section
381a. "Unlawful use of inaccurate apparatus or machine for testing dairy products" is not included. To see all the offenses charged,
download the DEMO programs and scroll through the Offense List. If you are practicing in a county which routinely charges an
offense outside the scope of any of the above sections, please let us know and we will consider adding the charge to the update.
